Question: Could I be pregnant if I have a mild period?
In most cases, a very light period has causes other than pregnancy. Nevertheless, light bleeding is possible at the beginning of a pregnancy. However, other signs of pregnancy are usually more telling.
In early pregnancy, you may experience light spotting related to hormonal changes. This is not the same as menstrual bleeding.
You may also be experiencing implantation bleeding, which sometimes happens when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus — around six days after intercourse — provided that fertilization has occurred.
A possible implantation bleeding would therefore come sooner than your period is due.
If your period is lighter than usual, this does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. It could be mild for other (usually benign) reasons, such as stress. Some women also have lighter periods in general.
