Hellowisp mentions "limitations and risks" due to "the lack of a comprehensive, previously existing medical file from my in-person provider, which may have provided additional insights to treatment options."
In other words, the abortion pill may be prescribed in situations where it is harmful to the patient because Wisp and its associates have no access to previous medical records where contraindications such as allergies may be revealed.
Other risk factors involved in utilizing their abortion services include:
- Complications: It is impossible for Wisp's doctors (Hemlock Medical Group) to virtually confirm the week of pregnancy. This could result in prescribing the abortion medication beyond the 10-week limit. A later abortion has an exponentially greater risk of complications such as incomplete abortion or hemorrhaging.
- Infection and sepsis: Wisp's doctors do not perform a post-abortion examination, which would leave an incomplete abortion undiagnosed, thus creating the risk of infection and sepsis.
- Incomplete abortion: This may necessitate surgery, which Hellowisp estimates to cost an extra "$435 to...$3000 or more."
- Ectopic pregnancies: are left undiagnosed and untreated since Wisp neither provides nor stipulates a pre-abortion ultrasound. This could become life-threatening.
While Wisp may be cheaper than in-person options, "Your... use of the Site... is done at your own risk...Wisp does not make...any...warranties to you with respect to success, performance, functionality, reliability or safety of the...products or services." Your life is valuable. Your safety matters more than the expense! Overall, the price may be higher than initially estimated, anyhow, since a quarterly subscription fee of $45 is added to the charges.

Privacy May Result in Isolation
If you are considering Hellowisp, you probably value convenience and privacy. Here, it may be essential to note that Wisp informs its users that "the potential for data breach" is higher when using its online services than when visiting a clinic.
Still, the desire for privacy, or perhaps even secrecy, causes many women to go through the abortion alone. This often creates a sense of isolation, which can lead to feelings of uncertainty or anxiety when symptoms are other than expected (level of pain, amount of bleeding, etc.). It would be emotionally stressful to be alone while feeling unsure whether further medical care may be necessary. At-home abortions have been described as the loneliest decision one can make.
